Our Commitment to Accessibility
Nathan But Net LLC is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We actively work to increase the accessibility and usability of nathanbut.net and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines. Accessibility is an ongoing effort and we welcome your feedback to help us improve.
Section 01
Our Accessibility Commitment

Nathan But Net LLC believes that every person — regardless of ability, disability, age, device, or technology — has the right to access information online and to shop with dignity and independence. We are committed to making nathanbut.net as accessible and inclusive as possible for all users, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice control software, alternative input devices, or display magnification tools.

Our accessibility commitment is not simply a legal obligation — it is a reflection of our core values as a business. We strive to design and maintain a website that meets or exceeds the recognized international and U.S. standards for web accessibility, and we treat accessibility improvements as an ongoing, never-finished responsibility rather than a one-time compliance task.

This Accessibility Statement describes our current accessibility status, the standards we target, the features we have implemented, known limitations, and how you can contact us to report an accessibility barrier or request assistance.

Section 02
Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. WCAG defines three levels of conformance: Level A (minimum), Level AA (standard), and Level AAA (enhanced). Our target conformance level is WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

nathanbut.net is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to resolve identified gaps and move toward full conformance across all pages and features of our website.

A
WCAG 2.1 Level A
Minimum accessibility requirements. All Level A success criteria are met across our website, including all core page content and shopping features.
Conformant
AA
WCAG 2.1 Level AA
Standard accessibility requirements. We are substantially conformant with Level AA. A small number of known gaps are being actively resolved. See Section 05 for details.
Partially Conformant
AAA
WCAG 2.1 Level AAA
Enhanced accessibility requirements. We implement select Level AAA criteria where feasible and will expand our AAA conformance over time as part of our ongoing improvement plan.
In Progress
What "Partially Conformant" Means Partial conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA means that the vast majority of our website meets the standard, but some specific pages or components may not yet fully satisfy every success criterion. We document known issues in Section 05 and are committed to resolving them. If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed here, please report it using the feedback form in Section 13.
Section 03
Accessibility Features We Have Implemented

The following accessibility features have been implemented on nathanbut.net to support users with disabilities. These features are available to all visitors and are designed to work across a wide range of browsers, operating systems, and assistive technologies.

Semantic HTML Structure
Our pages use proper semantic HTML5 elements — including headings (H1–H6), navigation landmarks, main content areas, lists, and form elements — to convey the correct structure and meaning of content to screen readers and other assistive technologies.
Skip Navigation Link
A "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of every page and becomes visible when focused using the Tab key. This allows keyboard and screen reader users to bypass the navigation menu and jump directly to the main page content.
Descriptive Alt Text for Images
All meaningful images — including product photos, category images, and informational graphics — include descriptive alternative text (alt attributes) that convey the purpose and content of the image to users who cannot see it. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes.
Keyboard-Only Navigation
Our entire website — including all navigation menus, product pages, shopping cart, and checkout process — can be navigated and operated using only a keyboard, without requiring a mouse. All interactive elements receive a clearly visible focus indicator when tabbed to.
Sufficient Color Contrast
We maintain a minimum color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text against their backgrounds, meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA contrast requirements. Color is never used as the only visual means of conveying information.
Descriptive Link Text
All hyperlinks on our website use descriptive text that clearly indicates the link destination or purpose. We avoid using generic phrases such as "click here" or "read more" in isolation, ensuring that links are meaningful when read out of context by screen readers.
Accessible Form Labels
All form fields — including name, address, email, payment, and search fields — are associated with descriptive labels using the HTML label element and ARIA attributes. Form errors are identified and described in text, not only by color, so screen reader users receive clear error messages.
ARIA Landmark Roles
We use WAI-ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) landmark roles and attributes throughout our website to define page regions such as navigation, main content, header, footer, and complementary sections, helping screen reader users navigate efficiently.
Resizable Text Support
Our website is designed to support text resizing up to 200% using browser zoom or operating system font size settings without loss of content or functionality. We use relative font size units (rem/em) rather than fixed pixel sizes to support user font preferences.
No Time Limits on Shopping
We do not impose automatic time limits on browsing, cart contents, or the checkout process that would disadvantage users who require more time to read, navigate, or complete tasks. Your shopping cart contents are preserved for up to 14 days without requiring action.
No Seizure-Risk Content
Our website does not contain any flashing, strobing, or rapidly blinking content that flashes more than three times per second, which could trigger photosensitive epileptic seizures. We do not use any animation that cannot be paused or disabled.
Responsive and Mobile Accessible
nathanbut.net is fully responsive and functions correctly across a wide range of screen sizes, from large desktop monitors to small smartphone screens. We support both portrait and landscape orientations, and touch targets are sized appropriately for touch-screen use.
Section 04

We aim to resolve critical issues (Level A gaps) within 30 days and Level AA gaps within 90 days of identification. All resolved issues are confirmed through re-testing before being marked as resolved.
Section 06
Visual Accessibility

nathanbut.net implements a range of features specifically designed to support users with visual disabilities, including low vision, color blindness, and total blindness. The following describes our approach to visual accessibility in detail.

  • Screen Reader Compatibility Our website is designed to work correctly with screen readers by using proper semantic markup, ARIA roles, live regions for dynamic content updates, and descriptive labels for all interactive elements. All page content is readable by screen readers in a logical, meaningful order that reflects the visual layout of the page.
  • Alt Text for All Meaningful Images Every product image, banner, icon, and informational graphic includes a descriptive alt text attribute. Product images describe the product name, key visual features, and color. Decorative images that convey no informational content are marked with empty alt attributes (alt="") so screen readers skip over them without announcing irrelevant information.
  • Color Independence Information on our website is never conveyed solely through color. For example, required form fields are indicated by both color and an asterisk (*) symbol; error states are indicated by both color and a text error message; and product availability is communicated through text labels, not color alone.
  • High Contrast Support Our website maintains a color contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for standard body text and 3:1 for large text (18pt regular or 14pt bold), meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements. We also test our website with Windows High Contrast Mode enabled to ensure content remains visible and usable.
  • Text Zoom and Browser Magnification Our website is built with flexible, relative CSS units that allow text to be enlarged up to 200% via browser zoom without causing content to overflow, become clipped, or lose functionality. No horizontal scrolling is required at 320px width at standard zoom, conforming to WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.10 (Reflow).
  • No CAPTCHA Barriers We do not use visual CAPTCHA challenges that require reading distorted text or identifying objects in images as the only means of proving you are human, as these create significant barriers for users with visual disabilities.
Section 07
Motor and Keyboard Accessibility

We recognize that many users with motor disabilities rely on keyboard navigation, switch access devices, eye tracking, head wands, or voice input rather than a traditional mouse. nathanbut.net is designed to be fully operable using keyboard input alone, with no requirement to use a mouse at any point during browsing or checkout.

  • Full Keyboard Operability Every interactive element on our website — including navigation links, buttons, product cards, filter controls, form fields, dropdown menus, accordion sections, and checkout steps — can be reached and activated using the keyboard Tab, Enter, Space, and arrow keys.
  • Visible Focus Indicators All focusable elements display a clearly visible focus indicator (outline) when they receive keyboard focus, meeting the WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirement for focus visibility. We ensure that our focus outlines have sufficient size and contrast against the background.
  • Logical Tab Order The keyboard tab order on our pages follows a logical sequence that matches the visual layout of the page — top to bottom, left to right. Focus is never moved to an unexpected location without user interaction, and focus never becomes trapped in a component without a standard escape mechanism.
  • No Mouse-Only Interactions Our website does not rely on hover-only interactions for essential content. Any information revealed on hover (such as product quick-view details or tooltip descriptions) is also accessible via keyboard focus on the same element.
  • Adequate Touch Target Sizes On touch-screen devices, all interactive elements — including buttons, links, navigation items, and form inputs — are sized to at least 44×44 pixels, meeting Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and WCAG 2.5.5 (Level AAA) recommendations for touch target sizing.
  • No Timing Requirements No action on our website requires users to respond within a time limit. Session timeouts in the account area are set to a generous duration, and users are warned before any session expires with the option to extend their session.
Section 08
Cognitive Accessibility

We design our website to be as clear, simple, and predictable as possible to support users with cognitive disabilities, including dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, memory impairments, and other cognitive differences. The following practices are built into our website design and content strategy.

  • Plain Language Throughout All page content — including product descriptions, policy pages, error messages, form labels, and navigation items — is written in clear, plain English that is direct and easy to understand. We avoid jargon, unnecessarily complex vocabulary, and ambiguous phrasing.
  • Consistent Navigation and Layout The website navigation, header, footer, and overall page layout remain consistent across all pages, so users can predict where to find information without having to re-learn the interface on each new page.
  • Clear Error Identification and Recovery When a form submission error occurs, we display a clear, specific text message identifying which field caused the error and what the user needs to do to correct it. We never simply highlight a field in red without explaining what went wrong.
  • Predictable Page Behavior Page components behave predictably — links go to the expected destinations, buttons perform the labeled action, and no unexpected pop-ups, redirects, or page changes occur without user initiation. We do not auto-advance carousels or change page content automatically in ways that may disorient users.
  • Clear Order Process Our checkout process follows a clearly labeled, step-by-step progression with each step clearly identified. Users can always see which step they are on, navigate back to previous steps to review their information, and confirm their complete order before submitting payment.
  • No Distracting Animations Our website does not use automatically moving, blinking, or scrolling content that persists for more than five seconds and cannot be paused, stopped, or hidden by the user.
Section 09
Third-Party Content and Platforms

nathanbut.net is powered by the Shopify e-commerce platform and incorporates several third-party service components. While we work within the accessibility capabilities of these platforms and apply our own accessibility improvements wherever possible, some third-party components may fall outside our direct control.

  • Shopify Platform Our store is built on the Shopify platform, which has its own accessibility commitments and development roadmap. Shopify publishes its own accessibility compliance information at shopify.com/accessibility. We choose Shopify themes and customize them with accessibility improvements, and we report platform-level accessibility gaps to Shopify's development team.
  • Payment Processors The payment step of our checkout process incorporates widgets provided by Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. These payment providers are responsible for the accessibility of their own payment interfaces. We have reported known screen reader issues in payment widgets to the respective providers and encourage them to resolve these issues promptly.
  • Customer Reviews User-submitted product reviews may contain content that does not meet our accessibility standards, as we cannot edit or format user submissions. We encourage users to write clear, descriptive reviews and we moderate content that is harmful or abusive.
  • Social Media Embeds Any social media content embedded on our website is provided by third-party platforms whose accessibility is governed by their own standards and policies. We minimize the use of third-party embeds and prefer linking to external content rather than embedding it where accessibility may be compromised.
Our Commitment Despite Third-Party Limitations Even where third-party components create accessibility limitations, we are committed to providing an alternative accessible pathway for every critical function on our website. If any third-party feature creates an insurmountable barrier for you, we will fulfill your request through an alternative method — including by phone or email — at no additional cost or disadvantage to you.
Section 10
Legal Framework — U.S. Accessibility Law

Nathan But Net LLC is committed to complying with all applicable U.S. laws and standards related to web and digital accessibility. Our accessibility efforts are guided by the following legal framework and technical standards.

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) — 42 U.S.C. § 12101 et seq. The ADA prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in places of public accommodation. Courts and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) have increasingly interpreted Title III of the ADA to apply to commercial websites as places of public accommodation. On April 24, 2024, the DOJ published a Final Rule under Title II of the ADA adopting WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the technical standard for web accessibility. While this rule directly governs state and local governments, it signals the DOJ's technical expectations for private sector websites as well. We are committed to meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA to the fullest extent feasible.
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act — 29 U.S.C. § 794d Section 508 requires federal agencies and organizations receiving federal funding to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. While Nathan But Net LLC is a private business and not directly subject to Section 508, we use the Section 508 standards — which reference WCAG 2.0 Level AA — as a benchmark for our own accessibility practices.
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 WCAG 2.1, developed by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), is the internationally recognized technical standard for web content accessibility. Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. WCAG 2.1 is organized around four principles: content must be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR).
  • Texas Human Resources Code § 121.003 As a Texas-based business, Nathan But Net LLC is also mindful of Texas state law regarding access for people with disabilities. Texas prohibits discrimination based on disability in places of public accommodation and public services.
  • Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) — 49 U.S.C. § 41705 Although this law governs air travel, it and its implementing regulations (including 14 C.F.R. Part 382) require airline websites to be accessible — reinforcing the broader federal policy direction toward digital accessibility in commerce.
  • California Unruh Civil Rights Act — Cal. Civ. Code § 51 California's Unruh Civil Rights Act prohibits arbitrary discrimination by business establishments on the basis of disability, and California courts have applied it to websites. Given that we serve California residents, we ensure our accessibility practices meet the standards expected under California law.
Non-Discrimination Policy Nathan But Net LLC does not discriminate against any person on the basis of disability in the sale of products, provision of customer service, or any other aspect of our business. If you require an accommodation to shop with us, please contact us and we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your needs. We will not charge you differently or provide a lower level of service based on your disability or your use of assistive technology.
Section 11
How We Test for Accessibility

Our accessibility testing process combines automated scanning tools, manual expert review, and real-world testing with assistive technologies. We believe that no single testing method is sufficient — a comprehensive approach using all three is necessary to identify the full range of accessibility barriers.

1
Automated Scanning
We use automated accessibility scanning tools including axe DevTools, WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool), and Lighthouse Accessibility audits to continuously scan our website for common accessibility violations. Automated tools can identify approximately 30–40% of WCAG issues and are run on every significant website update.
2
Manual Expert Review
Automated tools cannot detect all accessibility issues. We supplement automated testing with manual review by our team members, who evaluate keyboard navigation, focus order, ARIA implementation, color contrast, form usability, and the logical structure of page content against WCAG 2.1 success criteria.
3
Screen Reader and Assistive Technology Testing
We test critical user journeys — including browsing products, adding to cart, and completing checkout — using NVDA with Firefox, VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS, and JAWS with Chrome on Windows. Keyboard-only navigation testing is performed on all interactive page components.
4
User Feedback Integration
We actively solicit and incorporate accessibility feedback from our customers. Reports submitted through our feedback form in Section 13 are reviewed by our team within 24 hours, logged in our issue tracker, and addressed based on severity. User-reported issues often reveal real-world accessibility barriers that automated and manual testing may miss.
5
Periodic Comprehensive Audits
We conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of our full website at least once per year, or whenever a major redesign, theme update, or significant new feature is launched. These audits evaluate all pages and user flows against the complete set of WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria.
Section 12
Ongoing Accessibility Improvement Plan

Accessibility is a continuous journey, not a destination. We maintain a living improvement plan that outlines our accessibility goals, priorities, and timelines. The following represents our current commitment to ongoing accessibility enhancement at nathanbut.net.

  • Resolve All Known Level A and AA Gaps — Q2–Q4 2026 We are committed to resolving all known WCAG 2.1 Level A and Level AA conformance gaps identified in our issue tracker (Section 05) by Q4 2026. Progress is tracked monthly and reported in our internal accessibility log.
  • Expand WCAG 2.1 Level AAA Implementation Beyond the required Level AA standard, we will progressively implement additional Level AAA success criteria where feasible, including enhanced sign language support, extended audio descriptions, and improved reading level accommodations.
  • Annual Third-Party Accessibility Audit We plan to engage an independent, third-party web accessibility consultant to conduct a comprehensive WCAG 2.1 conformance audit of our full website on an annual basis, with the first audit scheduled for Q1 2027.
  • WCAG 2.2 Adoption The W3C published WCAG 2.2 in October 2023, which introduces new success criteria including enhanced focus appearance requirements and better support for users with cognitive disabilities. We plan to complete a WCAG 2.2 gap analysis and begin implementation in Q3 2026.
  • Accessibility Statement Annual Review This Accessibility Statement is reviewed and updated at least once per year, or whenever a significant change is made to our website's accessibility features, conformance status, or remediation priorities.
  • Staff Accessibility Awareness All team members at Nathan But Net LLC who are involved in website management, content creation, or customer service receive basic accessibility awareness training to ensure that accessibility considerations are integrated into our day-to-day operations.
Accessibility as a Business Value We believe that investing in accessibility is not only the right thing to do — it benefits all of our customers, not just those with disabilities. Accessible design is inherently clearer, more usable, and more robust for everyone. We are proud to treat accessibility as a core design requirement rather than an afterthought.
Section 13
